To be eligible for Tennessee Promise, a student must:
- Be a high school senior, beginning with the class of 2015
- Graduate from an eligible Tennessee high school, complete a Tennessee homeschool program or obtain a GED or HiSET diploma before their 19th birthday
- Apply by the November deadline of their high school senior year or the year in which they obtained the GED/HiSET
- Work with a mentor and attend mandatory meetings in their county
GED/HiSET Recipients and Tennessee Promise
GED/HiSET recipients are eligible for Tennessee Promise if they:
- Complete the application by the November deadline
- Meet all eligibility criteria
- Enroll in an eligible program immediately following receipt of their diploma
- Earn their diploma before turning 19
- Scholarship Renewal
To renew the scholarship, students must:
- Maintain full-time enrollment
- Complete 8 hours of community service per term
- Submit the FAFSA each year
